pladis India, one of the well known biscuit companies, has announced the launch of cream sandwich biscuits, under its iconic brand McVitie’s. The range was launched by Indian cinema actor and McVitie’s brand ambassador, Kajol Devgn in Mumbai. Looking pretty in a maroon jacket and beige palazzos, the actor talked about her association with McVities and about her upcoming movie, VIP 2. Here are some excerpts from the interview:
You have been long associated with the brand McVities. How does that make you feel?
It feels like it is the right decision. Like I said earler, the brand and the ambassador both, have to speak the same language. We are both responsible companies and I think it is something that we both agree upon that taste can be healthy and that is exactly what they are trying to say with their new cream biscuits as well.
Have you tasted their biscuits yet?
I did, and it’s lovely. You should have some too (smiles).
Do you have any childhood memories of eating biscuits? Which one was your favourite one?
You know I wasn't a biscuit person when I was a kid. I had more of a sweet tooth. I used to love my Indian sweets. I used to love my gud, mishti doi and all my Bengali sweets, gulab jamun and rasgullas.
So you never had any cravings at all?
Ofcourse I have had a lot of them when I was a kid. There is no way you can just avoid it, but no, nothing that really stuck out in my memory to say that I would really go back to.
What about your kids? Do they like biscuits?
They like the McVities chocolate biscuits, but my daughter is not too fond of sweets. She will have it once in a while when she feels like it.
Do you think sweet products can be healthy as well?
I think it has to be the right balance of health and taste. That is what is important. I think it cannot exclusive be one or the another, then its bound to be bad. It has to be the right balance between the two and that is what we are trying to say with these biscuits.
Tell us about your upcoming movie VIP 2. It is a Tamil movie so how was it working in it?
It has been great working with them. Actually, I was a little apprehensive at first when I signed the film, but, Soundarya and Dhanush went out of their way to make me feel better, to work around me, work with me and made sure I was comfortable and that everything went smoothly on the sets and I really appreciate that. Its very very difficult working in another language but its always easier when everybody surrounding you is supporting you and making you do better.
Will you consider doing more Tamil movies in the future?
I think now I would. But then again, like I said, I am super picky and I want to work with people who will give me that same level of comfort, who will work with me and I am still not fluent enough in it, or I don't think in that language to be able to do my job well. So yeah, am very open to doing Tamil movies.
